Product Description (external link)
DISOLCEL® Croscarmellose Sodium is an internally cross-linked Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium. Cross-linking was achieved without the use of cross-linking agents. Compared to the soluble Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium, cross-linked DISOLCEL® is essentially water-insoluble, yet swelling and absorbing many times its weight in water. As a result, it provides superior tablet disintegration and dissolution characteristics, thus assuring the bioavailability of the drug.
DISOLCEL® Croscarmellose Sodium solves many a formulator's problems with long-term functional stability, effects of high tablet hardness, and the need for high disintegrant use levels.
DISOLCEL® Croscarmellose Sodium is a pure, off-white, free-flowing powder, which does not interfere with binding or flow at typical use levels. DISOLCEL® Croscarmellose Sodium is the choice of excipient and superdisintegrant because of consistency in performance.
Application
DISOLCEL® can provide excellent properties in majority of formulations. The use levels are between 0.5 to 3.0% only. DISOLCEL®can be used in all tableting process including direct compression and wet granulation. In wet granulation, DISOLCEL® can be used intra- or extra-granular or equally divided between the two.
DISOLCEL® has been used in pharmaceutical tablets, capsules and granules to aid in disintegration of dosage form and drug dissolution.
DISOLCEL® is also used in industrial applications as an absorbent in diapers or detergents tablet in laundry.
